Usually toddlers make sounds or grunt when they want to pass stool. And mother could easily understand this indication and hold the baby in their arms and give verbal cues that prompt the baby to defecate. They may hold the baby over a sink or a bowl. And gradually taking baby over a potty chair becomes easy without any effort.  But if this is not the case, and we want to potty train a child at a little later stage, it becomes little difficult as they grow up. These toddlers learn this process some where between 18 months to 3 years. It is very important to know their readiness to learn potty training. Some parents begin training as soon as their child can sit on their own, but some kids may not be ready until well into the third or forth year.
